Veneers are thin, tooth-colored shells made from durable porcelain ceramic or composite bonding materials that are placed on the front of your teeth to correct a variety of imperfections. Veneers can be used to cover anything from stains and discoloration to chips, cracks, misshapen teeth, and even minor misalignments or gaps. Because veneers are custom-crafted to suit your needs and goals, they will blend in seamlessly with your teeth to give you a beautiful, natural-looking smile that you can show off with confidence.
Veneers can reshape pointed or jagged teeth.

Your first appointment with our Hudson dentist will involve her getting to know about your medical and dental history. She’ll ask questions on whether you have any underlying conditions and what medication you’re currently under. She’ll then conduct a series of tests to determine whether veneers are a good choice for you.
Dr. Divito will shave part of the enamel off your teeth to create space for the veneer. This ensures the veneers fit perfectly on the teeth and aren’t too bulky. With part of the enamel removed, Dr. Divito will take impressions of your teeth to create the mold for your new veneers.
After Dr. Divito takes the impression, she’ll give you temporary veneers to wear. These veneers will stand in for the actual veneers while the lab manufactures them.
Once your veneers are ready, Dr. Divito will schedule a fitting appointment. She’ll check whether the veneers fit and whether they match with the rest of the tooth. Dr. Divito then uses a special cement to bond the veneers to your teeth.
You can eat normally two hours after getting your veneers. However, it’s best to avoid hard and crunchy foods a few days after getting your veneers. The pressure from biting the hard food can damage your veneers. Also, avoid too much alcohol consumption as it might damage the bonding holding the veneers.
Composite veneers last for between 7 and 10 years, depending on how well you take care of them. Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, can last up to 20 years or even more if you take good care of them. Taking care of your veneers entails brushing and flossing your teeth every day, rinsing your mouth with fluoride mouthwash daily, and scheduling regular dental checkups. You should get veneers if you have severely discolored teeth, especially your front teeth. Veneers are also great if you have chipped, cracked, or fractured teeth. The veneers cover up tooth imperfections to ensure you have a lovely smile to show the world. You may also need veneers if you have large gaps between your teeth and visibly misshapen teeth.
