Even if you take great care of your teeth, checkups with Dr. Divito can help you protect your oral health. She can look for early signs of problems like tooth decay and gum disease, treat them early, and ensure your mouth is completely healthy.
Preventive care is affordable, and is almost always covered by dental insurance. By catching oral health problems early, you can avoid further complications that may require more costly care.
Once you’re done with your appointment at Luminous Dental, you’ll know that your mouth is healthy. And, if Dr. Divito does notice an issue that requires further care, you can get the treatment you need to protect your oral health right away.
To begin, one of our team members will clean, floss, and polish your teeth. Professional teeth cleanings remove bacteria, plaque, and tartar that can’t be removed at home, even if you have a great oral hygiene routine.
New patients typically will get a set of full-mouth digital x-rays at our office, and once a year afterward. Your hygienist and Dr. Divito will use these x-rays to get a better picture of your overall oral health.
Next, Dr. Divito will examine your mouth to look for signs of cavities, gum disease, infected teeth, oral cancer, and a wide variety of other dental issues.
Dr. Divito will discuss her findings with you. If your mouth is healthy, you'll just need to schedule your next six-month visit. But if Dr. Divito notices an issue such as a cavity, she will discuss all of your treatment options with you, and the next steps you should take.
Finally, you’ll stop by our front desk on your way out to schedule your next checkup or any other necessary treatment at Luminous Dental.
